اعوذ باللہ من الشیطان الرجیم
بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم
السلام علیکم ورحمۃ اللہ وبرکاتہ
"Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you."
The virtues and merits of the noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) are mentioned in countless verses of the Qur’an and in many authentic (mutawatir) ahadith. Since the early times, scholars have written books on the greatness and virtues of the Companions of Allah's Messenger ﷺ.
1) Imam Nawawi (May Allah have mercy on him) (d. 676 AH) said:
“The hadiths about the virtues of the Companions in general are many and well-known in Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, and other books. As for the specific virtues of individual Companions or groups among them, they are so many that they cannot be counted.”
(Tahdhib al-Asma’ wal-Lughat, 1/15)
2)Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (May Allah have mercy on him) (d. 728 AH) said:
“These hadiths about the virtues of the Companions, their praise, and the superiority of their generation over later ones are widespread, rather mutawatir. Speaking ill of them is, in reality, an attack on the Qur’an and Sunnah.”
(Majmu‘ al-Fatawa, 4/430)
3)mam al-Sakhawi (d. 902 AH) said:
“This is a subject (virtues of the Companions) that has no end.”
(Fath al-Mughith, 4/120)
Definition of a Companion (Sahabi) – رضی اللہ عنہم اجمعین
Imam Ibn Hajar al-‘Asqalani (May Allah have mercy on him)(d. 852 AH) said:
This includes:
– Those who spent a long or short time in his company,
– Those who narrated hadith from him or didn’t,
– Those who participated in battles with him or didn’t,
– Those who merely saw him, even if they didn’t sit in his gatherings,
– And even those who couldn’t see him due to an excuse, like blindness.”
📚 al-Isabah fi Tamyiz al-Sahabah (1/158)
All Companions (Sahabah)– رضی اللہ عنہم اجمعین Are Destined for Paradise
As mentioned in Al-Isabah fi Tamyiz al-Sahabah (1/158), it is the firm belief of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama‘ah that no one other than the Prophets is free from sin or error (i.e. infallible). The noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them all) were people of goodness, seekers of Allah’s pleasure, and fearful of His punishment. They lived in the best of times and were the best of people, yet being human, they did commit errors. However, Allah Almighty has declared forgiveness for all of them, and promised His eternal pleasure and mercy.
All the Companions are destined for Paradise.
It is not the right of those who come later to criticize them based on certain mistakes. Allah Himself has forgiven their shortcomings.
They are forgiven, blessed, and the rightful inheritors of Paradise.
🔹 Qur’anic sharif Proofs
🧡 Statements of the Scholars
“Allah has promised them Paradise where they will live forever. He informed us that He is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him. Allah says:
‘They are the party of Allah. Behold! The party of Allah are the successful.’”
(Surah Al-Mujadilah, 58:22)
(Al-Shari‘ah, 4/1624)
🔹 Allama Ibn Hazm(رحمہ اللہ – May Allah have mercy on him) said:
“All of them (the Companions) were just, virtuous, and among the people of Paradise.”
(Al-Ihkam fi Usul al-Ahkam, 5/90)
🔹 Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah(رحمہ اللہ – May Allah have mercy on him) said:
“We bear witness that the Companions are destined for Paradise, as is the belief of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama‘ah.”
(Minhaj al-Sunnah, 6/203)
He further stated:
“Whoever asserts that any one of them (the Sahabah)"May Allah be pleased with them all." has committed a sin for which he will definitely enter Hell, then such a person is a liar and a slanderer. Even if someone speaks without knowledge, they are still wrong. So how can one claim such a thing when there are countless proofs to the contrary?”
(Majmu‘ al-Fatawa, 4/432)
❗ Clarification
While there are some individuals mentioned in Hadith who were foretold to enter Hell, none of them were true Companions — they were all hypocrites (Munafiqeen). The Companions (Sahabah)"May Allah be pleased with them all.""May Allah be pleased with them all." are free from such a fate, as the Qur’an and authentic Sunnah testify to their faith, virtue, and eternal salvation.
